"You know I've told you not to do that," David said lightly to Duke.
He glanced over as Bakura and then Yugi spoke, and as Kaiba came in and tried to get out. "I've got this feeling I don't want to cross him," he smirked, speaking in a stage whisper.
Yami Bakura just leaned back, observing everything. Modern-day humans could be quite entertaining sometimes.

Joey glanced back at Seto with a fiery counter-glare.
"You always do," he said.
He didn't know what was worse. Having lunch with Kaiba, or with Yami Bakura.
This just wasn't his day...
"Kaiba, are you sure?" Téa asked, gently making one of many peace offerings between the CEO and themselves. "There's always room for one more."

"Bah. Quiet, you.
"You're in the minority there, David." Duke said with a smirk, watching Joey's antics. Of course Yugi and Tea would not want to cross the young CEO, but they would not be afraid to do so if necessary.
Not that Duke ever thought it would be necessary.
He'd never been openly invited on any of Yugi's adventures, so Duke figured that if they wanted to include him in their conversation they would say so. He said nothing more.

"I'm-" he paused and glanced outside. Were those fansgirls? Perhaps he could stand to wait a few minutes.. Kaiba pulled his chair over, and beckoned the waitress over, presumably for another cup of coffee. "Anyone else want anything? My treat." He said the worlds stiffly and slowly, like he was speaking a foreign language through the use of a dictionary.

Both Joey and Téa's jaws dropped at Seto's sudden change.
"Uhhh... sure...?" Joey said. He softly began to whistle a song from Jekyll and Hyde as he looked over the menu again, keeping an eye out to avoid any escargots.
Téa just blinked, but managed a smile. "Maybe a cup of coffee," she said, not wanting to take too much advantage of this rare show of generosity.

OOC// Wycca won't be on for a few days as she is away.
IC//
Yugi had sat through the exchange between Kaiba and Joey while trying not to say anything. At least Joey hadn't decided to try and start a physical fight with the CEO of Kaiba Corp. That would have been an unmitigated disaster. And it was nice of Téa to try and offer some kind of compromise.
Though when Kaiba offered to buy something he was incredibly surprised. His head tilted to the side slightly and he had to fight to keep his jaw from dropping. Yugi was idealistic, but he wasn't stupid. While he did consider Kaiba a friend he realised the man acted like a jerk and that it wasn't likely to change. But as always he thought that Kaiba had a good heart. Somewhere.
"No thank you..." He said slowly, straightening up in his chair. There was a bit of hamburger left on his plate and he planned to finish it.
"Would you like to join us?" He said as he looked back over at Duke and David. He indicated a few of the open chairs around them feeling a bit guilty that those two was getting a bit ignored in lue of Kaibas sudden change.

Duke blinked. He hadn't been expecting Kaiba's sudden change.
Duke also blinked at Yugi's offer. Strange, how he seemed to be able to almost read other's thoughts... Though for someone as open and friendly as Yugi, maybe that shouldn't be a surprise at all.
Oh, look, it was his fanclub. Or was it Kaiba's fanclub? At this point, it didn't matter. He gave a small smile.
"Sure, I'm free for a bit. If that's alright with David...?"

Kaiba sat , waiting for the coffee and taking his when it came. He sipped it silently before speaking again. As usual he more or less directed his talking towards Yugi. "I have a new virtual reality system that needs beta testing," he declared. " It is Duel Monsters based, but I can't test it myself. As opposed to my previous virtual reality game this one is meant to be played in a group." He paused and took a breath, his face was now almost completely blank. "Kaibacorp would be deeply honored if the King of Games and his companions would test it. You will be subsidized for your time of course." He added the last line quickly, just to make sure that they knew it was him attempting to get some good publicity for his company and not a pathetic attempt to make friends.

David was surprised by the progression in the events, but he nodded. "That's fine with me," he said, walking over and taking one of the still-vacant chairs.
He raised an eyebrow at Kaiba's offer. That was interesting. Duke had told him horror stories about those VR games. Something always seemed to go wrong. But knowing Yugi, he supposed, the guy was likely to accept anyway.
David was not sure if he would, if it were him. He was greedy and wanted money, but he wasn't stupid. No point getting trapped someplace where you wouldn't be able to use the money anyway.
Yami Bakura, on the other hand, was rather intrigued and amused. He had no need of modern mortal money; he sought far greater prizes. But this was interesting at any rate.

Joey licked his lips. A chance to earn big bucks playing Duel Monsters with a new VR system? How could he refuse!?
Hold it, though... he said to himself. Don't want to look too eager...
"Well, Kaiba..." he said, with a false air of grandeur. "Your new VR system just might be able to fit into Joey Wheeler's busy schedule. That is, if it's okay with Yugi..." He blinked as another thought occurred to him. "And it had better not be sabotaged by more of those crazy suits who want to make you look bad!" he added.

OOC// Sorry for having vanished for a while. Lots of issues.
IC// Yugi perked up considerably at the mention of a new virtual reality system. That was something that intrigued him. It would be fun, though he didn't really need the money. If he ever did he could take on one of the advertising deals that always wanted to use the king of games image. Not that most of them didn't use it anyway.
"I'd like to help test it out. But Joeys right..." Yugi said, rolling each of the words in his mouth. The last time had been... Unpleasant to say the least. But if Seto Kaiba said it was safe then he would believe him. "How many people do you need to test it?" He questioned looking around the group. If enough people were needed perhaps everyone could join in.

Kaiba scowled, remembering the last fluke. "I have been the only one to work on it. This I know" "The minimum number of players in a group is three. However for optimum playing experience six or seven is best."

Joey gave a nod.
"Well,if Yugi's in, then I'm in, especially if you're sure that no one's tampered with it..." the blond said. he turned to Bakura and Duke. "You two going to come along?"

OOC: Sorry for suddenly disappearing! <insert lame excuse here> "Well, I've got money, and I'm not sure if I've got time." Duke said. He was just as wary of crazy mishaps as everyone else was. "But if you need an extra player..."

Kaiba surveyed him, Devlin was technically someone who could be a business rival, however no one seemed to actually like Dungeon Dice Monsters, maybe it would serve as a intimidation factor and her could exert some control over his product, perhaps producing a holographic reality version. "Feel free." he said gruffly after a moment. Best not appear too nice.
